North Somerset Railway - The Mendip Line
Expanded upon by James Smith, this rendition of the North Somerset Railway converts the route into what could have been a modern-day heritage railway.
The entire length of the line has remained in preservation, with the inclusion of the branch line to Whatley Quarry, which has been reimagined as a "what-if" nature reserve, with the old Whatley Quarry pit flooded and turned into an artificial lake with locomotive and rolling stock workshop facilities built nearby. Radstock has been revamped into a larger terminus station, complete with locomotive facilities and additional sidings for the northern end of the line, while Whatley's depot compliments the southern end. Frome Market has received storage sidings and a run-round loop outside the station, meaning that trains will have to shunt back out of the station once passengers have disembarked, allowing for interesting shunting manoeuvres.
Also included are 7 scenarios, all of which use the default requirements for the route; 4 general scenarios across the route by Dark DJ Productions and 3 by myself with a fictional diesel gala. The use of only the default requirements certainly got me thinking on how to be creative with the limited use of locomotives.
Special thanks to AirbourneAlex for allowing permission to release the route with his initial route edits.
